How to Take Rest From Information Overload

We live in an age where information is endless. From the most important matter to the least important thing, there are a million pieces of information that pertain to it and are being fed to us on a daily basis. It doesn’t matter if the information is fact or fiction, the goal of the distributor is to get it out and into the minds of the receiver.

I was recently confronted with the reality that the amount of information I took in was overwhelming and because it was so vast, I had no place in my mind to store it. In addition to this, I didn’t know how to administer it. I considered spreading the knowledge via social media but when I entered the digital space, I found that many were arguing the knowledge of things they had also learned. What I realized is that not only I, but all, need to learn how to take rest from information overload.

Knowledge is Power and Grief

A wise man once said: “For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.” For anyone on the quest for truth, the understanding arises that the majority of the global population will never take the time to learn what you have learned nor will they take the steps toward the true resolution of a matter.

The media propaganda machine feeds the receiver information that causes an emotional reaction and those who fall into the trap have also been looped into a never-ending emotional cycle that calls them to learn more about nothing. These propaganda machines also point to another source of information that perpetuates the fiction which causes the receiver to continue to eat rotten food.

On the flip side, those who are non-biased in their truth seeking quickly realize that something they held as truth was in fact false. I include myself in this group and say that we go on to dig deeper into all the falsities that we have been taught and if we are not careful, we fall into the rabbit hole meaning more questions, more pursuits, and an endless cycle of seeking. We don’t eat rotten food but we are never satisfied which means we keep on eating even when it hurts.

Knowledge is power but it is also grief as the more you know, the more you understand, and the less you are able to see life the same.

How to Take Rest From Information Overload

In my opinion, I believe that the very first step in taking rest from information overload is to understand that nothing will bring you to the conclusion of all matters. There is only One who knows the beginning and end of everything there is to know on Earth and in the Heavens and we ain’t it!

The second step in taking rest from information overload is to recognize the Sabbath. Jesus once said that man was not made for the Sabbath but the Sabbath for man. In this world, we are faced with challenges of the mind, body and spirit. We have to take the time to pull back, relax, rest, and be grateful for what we have been blessed to possess in this world. No matter how many troubles we face on the Earth, there is always something we can reflect and be grateful for.

The third step to taking rest from information overload is to understand that we will never be able to solve all the world’s problems nor will we be able to understand every reason for the things that happen to us. We can become so passionate about saving the world from evil that we are blindsided to the fact that it would take the effort of God and all humans to turn the way of the world completely around. Because God did not make humans robotic, we all have free choice to choose the actions we perform and some like to choose actions that don’t benefit humanity; we must accept that.

In addition to the aforementioned, we also must understand that there are mysteries to life. Maybe you experienced the death of a loved one, maybe you suffered unspeakable trauma, maybe something happened that I have not mentioned and you strive to understand why. The truth is that you may never know why. You may search the ends of the Earth and never find out why things happened to you the way that they did but you still have to live with everything you have and have not learned. It is ok not to know. It is ok to take rest and it is ok to be overwhelmed with knowledge; just make sure that in all you search, take rest.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives, do I give to you. Therefore, let not your heart be trouble, neither be afraid.

  1. Thank you for your messa mother O.
This was a great read for me. The closer I’ve gotten with God and away from the world I also see people who are in the world more than closer to God and it’s a turn off.

Also that part about overload yes gotta step back and be careful of them damn rabbit holes go to deep can’t get out sheesh 🙄.
