Are the LA fires a sign of God's wrath toward us?
Over 37,603 acres have succumbed to the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. To put this into perspective, that is around the same size as the entire landmass of Staten Island. A reported 11 people have lost their lives and many more have lost their livelihood and their biggest financial security, their homes.
Wildfire season runs from May to October where winds ascend and descend the mountains causing them to become warm. The windy season is typically seen in the autumn and winter with winds that can reach up to 160 km or 99 mph assisting in the process of a natural fire that can quickly turn into a massive and uncontainable wildfire.
Several conspiracies theories have emerged such as the elite in power causing the fires in order to open land for the 2028 Olympics, to God raining down fire on a sin-filled city.
With a total estimated recovery cost of $150 Billion dollars, it would be unlikely that an elite group would target a multi-million dollar area to prepare for the Olympics, expected to cost $7 billion dollars, to obtain a profit of around $1 billion. Though more data would have to be presented to come to a complete conclusion, this would be the least cost effective way to prepare for the 2028 Olympics.
The latter is the theory that God has become so enraged with the city, He has set it ablaze. In my own personal prayers, I have asked God this question and He moved me to write about it.
What I know is that rejoicing in a time of peril for our fellow brothers and sisters is not in alignment with God’s word. Furthermore, when the prophets warned the people of the coming destruction, they were not excited to render judgement, but saddened at what was to come.
I’d like you to consider that mothers, fathers, children, and families lost their loved ones, their homes, and their sense of belonging in these devastating fires that continue to rage. Before making up your mind about what God is thinking, try sympathizing with those who have lost everything that makes them feel at home in this world. Isaiah 55:9 reads:
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
With Love,
