When Did Minerva Become Black?

Another idolatry battle is brewing between black people who love their idols and those who Love God. As denunciations of Delta Sigma Theta and Black Greek Letter Organizations arise, black people are responding by saying that this is an intentional destruction of black excellence.

Ironic? Yes and also confusing! Delta Sigma Theta regards Minerva as a champion of wisdom and includes her on their crest, motto’s, hymns, pledge bonds, and prayers and my only question is, when did Minerva become black?

Who is Minerva?

Delta Sigma Theta utilizes Minerva symbolism because it represents their core values of scholarship, leadership, and purposeful intelligent action.

A quick Google search will return glowing information regarding Minerva also known as Pallas Athena or Athena. This goddess is known for her wisdom, arts, intelligence, education, and strategic warfare.

If you dig a little deeper, you will find that Minerva was not the noble goddess she desires to be seen as. In fact, she had a very jealous and extremely violent side.

According to ancient tales, Minerva was challenged by a young mortal girl who was a very skilled weaver. The young girl crafted a scene of the gods transforming themselves into humans and seducing mortal women. Minerva, filled with rage, beat the young girl until the girl decided that she did not want to live anymore. The young girl attempted to take her life by hanging; before the girl succeeded, Minerva “took pity” on her by turning her into a spider reciting the following:

Live, wicked, wretch, but hang forevermore. Let my curse remain even upon your children and their children to the end of all your race.

The terror doesn’t stop there, Minerva is also responsible for priestess Medusa’s death. Medusa was being pursued by Minerva’s uncle, Neptune. She ran into Minerva’s temple in an attempt to escape and reach safety but to no avail; Neptune raped Medusa inside the temple. Instead of becoming angry and taking vengeance for her priestess, Minerva became enraged with Medusa desecrating her temple and turned her hair into snakes and gave her a gaze that petrified anyone who looked upon her. She later assisted in Perseus beheading Medusa and wore her severed head on her own breastplate as a trophy.

Minerva despised with a strong vengeance the founder of Rome who was also a Trojan hero. She gave Ulysses (Odysseus) the idea of the Trojan Horse which is also known as “Minerva’s Gift of Death” leading to the total destruction of Troy. When Laocoon, a Trojan priest, attempted to warn his people that the Trojan Horse was a trap, Minerva sent sea serpents to strangle and devour him and his 2 young sons.

In the mythical story of Minerva playing the flute, it is said that she noticed it made her look ugly when blowing into it made her cheeks puff. She placed a curse that whoever picked it up and played it would die a gruesome death and that they did. Marysas, half-goat half-man used the flute to contest another god. When he lost, that god had him tied to a tree and beat to death.

Delta Sigma Theta states that the most important aspect in the “Minerva Circle” is sisterhood yet Minerva killed women, sisters, children, and men without batting a lash. The only pity taken was to curse a girl and all her descendants with hanging until their entire lineage was destroyed. That doesn’t sound very sisterly to me.

Delta Sigma Theta is a Christian Organization

Delta Sigma Theta says that their organization was founded on Christian principles. Jesus once said “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

Internal documents from a former member revealed portions of the initiations and ceremonies. Lets take a look at a couple of excerpts regarding Delta Sigma Theta’s written recitations, ceremonial customs and printed literature:

SOROR FACING THE PYRAMID: Water is necessary for life. As I wash your hands in pure water, may you feel the energy of a new life force-Delta Sigma Theta. Be charged to do your part in keeping the force of our Sorority clean and strong.

PYRAMIDS: I behold the Torch of Wisdom (Minerva). May it guide my footsteps on the path to full realization of Delta Sigma Theta’s Ideals.

Ceremonies are encouraged to take place in the College Chapel, churches, or meeting rooms as stated it is an ideal place for ceremony. Ceremony calls for ushers and sergeant-at-arms who is the head usher.

Practice produces an aura of confidence that enhances the ceremony. Choose accomplished readers who have the ability to project and inspire.

Attire:

Chapter Officer-White robes no pants

Minerva Circle Members- Red robes no pants

Sorors- Black attire no pants

Candidates- White attire no pants

CHAPLAIN READS: We invoke thy presence even now, O Lord, as we bring these aspiring sisters into this first stage of their journey toward full Sisterhood. May Thy reflection be seen by the light of our Torch of Wisdom (Minerva) and may it guide them safely into our Most Sacred Trust. Amen.

CANDIDATE (BOND PLEDGE): I (hand printed name), do hereby acknowledge that I willingly seek admission to the Pyramid Circle of Delta Sigma Theta, and do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to its goals. I sincerely believe in the ideals of Delta Sigma Theta as they have been explained to me, and I do hereby willingly enter into these initiation activities with the serious intention of achieving the eventual goal of full membership in Delta Sigma Theta.

(Each candidate signs the Bond and stands. She is pinned by a Soror and given the lighted candle/penlight by the Leader of the Minerva Circle. The Pyramids are seated after the last pyramid return to her place.)

It is fitting that the attributes associated with Minerva, the goddess of wisdom, be influential in the minds and spirits of these Sorors as they plan and execute their duties. The Minerva Circle is elected to carry out the sororities most sacred trust, “The induction of new members into Delta Sigma Theta is the sorority’s most sacred trust.”

You are about to take upon yourselves the vows and obligations from which you can never be freed. They will follow you to the Final Judgement.

We believe in a spiritual life but we leave to the individual the selection of the medium for its outward manifestation.

When I was a pyramid, I talked as a Pyramid, I understood as a Pyramid, I thought as a Pyramid, but now that I have become a Delta, I am done with the ways of those intending to be Deltas.

At present we see only the great potentialities of Sisterhood founded on Christian principles, but some day we shall know that its realization rests upon the quality of our lives in fellowship one with the other.

The Delta Meditation is a complete rip from 1 Corinthians 13! This is blasphemous!

God warns us that if we add to His Word plagues will be added to that person and if we take away from His Word, that person will not share in the tree of life or the holy city.

Turn Away from Idolatry

I was a yoga teacher for over 5 years. It was my identity, I found community, and people in my city knew me as a yoga teacher. I taught at hospitals, I had a YouTube channel, and I started my own business.

After I had my daughter, I was completely unable to practice. I felt lost like, what am I to do now that I can’t do what my life’s purpose is. I happened to watch my sister’s YouTube about denouncing sororities and it broke my heart. The Holy Spirit guided me to look up “What are the origins of yoga”. Mind you I had looked up “What is Yoga” and nothing but positive search results came back. I had been under the impression that yoga was just a physical stretching practice that yoked you with whoever you wanted to be yoked with and I wanted to be yoked with Jesus.

I called myself a Christian yoga teacher. When the Holy Spirit called me to look up the origins of yoga, a totally different search came back. I discovered that the term yoga was first used in the Rig Veda which is the Hindu Bible. I discovered that the whole time I thought I was walking with God, I was walking in Idolatry.

My heart sank to the bottom of the earth and I was deeply sorrowful for being so deceived into practicing Hinduism. I immediately rid my home of all yoga material, I publicly denounced my practice and denounced yoga over the lives that I taught, and I lay myself down before God in deep repentance.

Idolatry comes in various forms, one that is prominent over the black culture is black skin. Black people side with all like minded black people no matter the consequences. From Islam, to Delta Sigma Theta; these false religions build themselves on the backs of black people, God’s people, by claiming to be black. Doing research will show you that not only are the founders white, but they are false gods who have deceived you. Minerva is as black as the Prophet Muhammad and in the words of Joe Bidden “You ain’t black” and in the words of the bible “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own mercy.”

Blessed for us, we serve a God who opens His Heart, Arms, and Kingdom to us if we turn from our wicked ways and worship Him. God never told us there weren’t more gods in this earth, but He did tell us that He is the Only One True God. The One who lives and breathes. The One whom we live, breathe, and have our being within. As long as you have breathe, you can choose life, you can choose God.

Ezekiel 33:11

Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Ezekial 14:6

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
